    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about services, scheduling, and getting started.

What medical-legal services does Dr. Chopra provide?

Dr. Chopra provides life care planning, future medical cost projections, qualified medical evaluations, independent medical examinations, medical record review, medical-legal consulting, and expert witness services within her areas of expertise.

What is a life care plan?

A life care plan outlines anticipated medical and rehabilitation needs over time. It may include recommended services, equipment, assistance, and associated costs, based on the individual’s condition and the available clinical evidence.

How does her medical training inform a life care plan?

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation focuses on function and the effects of injury or illness on daily life. Pain Medicine adds experience in evaluating pain conditions and treatment options. Together, these perspectives inform the medical reasoning behind future care recommendations.

What is the difference between a QME and an IME?

A QME evaluates disputed medical issues through California’s workers’ compensation process. An IME is an independent medical examination arranged to address defined questions in another appropriate evaluation setting. The purpose, scheduling process, and reporting requirements depend on the type of evaluation.

Does an independent evaluation include treatment?

An independent medical-legal evaluation is performed to answer medical questions for the requesting process. It is not a treatment appointment. Patient-care inquiries should be directed through the separate clinical services route.

Can I request a review of an existing life care plan?

Yes. An inquiry may request review of the medical basis for proposed care, the assumptions used, and the supporting records and cost information. The office will confirm the scope and availability before accepting the engagement.

How can I obtain the CV and fee schedule?

Use the contact form or contact the office directly. Indicate the service requested and relevant deadlines so the office can provide the appropriate information.

What information is needed to begin?

Start with your contact information, the requested service, and relevant deadlines. The office will arrange any necessary conflict review and provide records-submission instructions. Please keep medical details out of the public inquiry form.

    Where are evaluations performed?

Medical-legal services are available nationwide. Dr. Chopra serves all of California, with telehealth available throughout the state. In-person evaluations are performed in Newport Beach. For clinical in-person evaluations, the areas served are Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. Contact the office for evaluation availability and scheduling details. QME appointments follow the applicable scheduling requirements.

Are reports or appointments available on a specific deadline?

Availability depends on the service requested, the volume of records, and the evaluation requirements. Provide your deadline with the inquiry so the office can confirm whether it can be accommodated.
